Preservation Order

The protection of monuments, i.e. the protection of cultural monuments, is the responsibility of the Lower Monument Protection Authority of the Hochtaunus District. Exceptions are monuments in Bad Homburg and Oberursel, as these two cities have their own monument protection authorities.

The monument protection authority has the legal mandate to ensure that monuments are protected and preserved and that monuments are given appropriate consideration in public planning. This is done in particular by means of approvals under monument law (especially in the case of alterations or demolition) as well as consultations and monitoring/inspections.
