Transport Federation Hochtaunus

The Transport Federation Hochtaunus (Verkehrsverband Hochtaunus - VHT) is a community special-purpose association. Members of the association are the Hochtaunus District and its communities. The VHT was founded in 1988 to ensure the operation of the Taunus Rail (Taunusbahn). For this purpose, the VHT bought the railroad line and renovated it. In addition to being the owner of a railroad line, the VHT is also the local public transport company of the Hochtaunus district.

As the owner of the Taunus Rail, the VHT is responsible for the rehabilitation and further development of the infrastructure of the train line. In addition to ongoing renovation measures, important projects include renewal of the control and signaling systems and electrification of the rail line, starting with the section from Friedrichsdorf to Usingen. Creating the prerequisites for extending the S5 commuter rail line into the Usinger Land region.

The second area of responsibility of the VHT is that of the local public transport organization. In this function, the VHT plans public transport in the district area in cooperation with its regional partner, Rhein-Main-Transportation-Network (RMV and the communities. The VHT independently plans the bus and AST transport on a total of 22 lines and puts them out to tender in two bundles.
